The HKFYG Standard Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest

English is an international language, and fluency in it is one of the keys to success in the world today. Young people who strive to compete and excel in the global arena must learn how to communicate in English with confidence. As their fluency improves, opportunities will also widen. With an aim to foster self confidence in English public speaking among the young people of Hong Kong.

Since its launch in 2004, the Contest has been widely supported by secondary schools in Hong Kong. The accumulated number of participants has reached 22,000; over 400 secondary schools have participated in this Contest. In 2016, almost 2,500 applications were received from 173 secondary schools. An official website was introduced to further promote English learning in Hong Kong.

  • To enhance the public speaking skills of the new generation
  • To foster and build the self-confidence of participating individuals 



     

    Competition Information

    Eligibility

    Junior Division:

    Secondary 1 to 3 (i.e. Year 7 to 9 of international schools) students under full-time education in Hong Kong

    Senior Division:

    Secondary 4 to 6 (i.e. Year 10 to 12 of international schools) students under full-time education in Hong Kong
